Description

For =kizer180's !!DRAW YOUR FAV CHARACTERs DOME!!! deal, this is Link from the Legend of Zelda games.

Why'd I pick Link? Here are some reasons: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was the first "real" video game I ever played (and it's still my favorite to this day), so there's the nostalgia factor; he's the Hero of Destiny in just about every game he's in, and I love a good old "chosen one" story; he doesn't talk much; he's spends a lot of his time alone; he travels mostly by foot; he gets along well with people and animals; he always defeats the Ultimate Evil (!); he's often an outcast or an orphan; and he's a handsome guy, which is always a plus. XD Not to mention he's got that whole swashbuckling hero thing going for him, and I like his clothes. ;)

Notes about the art itself: it's my first drawing ever done entirely in Photoshop, I cheat and use pre-packaged Photoshop effects, and I'm getting better at shading (I think...). The linework is sketchier than I like to leave it, but I WILL leave it as an exercise in anti-perfectionism. I always end up ruining things if I try to perfect them, anyway.

The end. Thank you.

Hi, I'm in your crit group.

First response: EEEEEE LINK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, really nice, honestly. Very good representation of Linnk - and he's even MANLY! ^_^ Much love to you for that.

It's a good piece, nice composition, and I like how you added an environment (although it does seem a bit stamp-y). That's something I'm trying to do with my own art. And failing. *sigh*

I really REALLY like his nose. Noses are a part of the face that drives me NUTS, and I'm constnatly trying to figure out how to do them better. (I started with anime noses - long ways to go yet). This is a really good representation of the nose, it doesn't stand out, it's subtle, yet defines the shape of the ... ... NOSE (I wanted to say APPENDAGE. o.O) with character. Points for you.

Overall, I really don't have anything "negative" to say, so MORE points for you. However, you may want to toy with the idea of playing with line weights. Your nearly-"dead" weight is NOT distracting in this picture, it flows well, etc, I had to really glare at the picture to notice the lines at all (which is good). But line weight is ALWAYS a fun thing, and something I'm working at myself. Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo) and Jeff Smith (Bone) are line weight KINGS. They are THE WIN. Study them. For they will teach you many things.

Awesome piece though! I'm going to fav it because it is awesome and it is Link.
